At that time, the temple already housed an idol of Shri Shri Ghanshyam Rai. A dilemma arose – which idol should be placed on the Doul, the special chariot for the festival? The priest prayed earnestly for guidance. The next morning, everyone was astonished to find that the newly discovered idol had miraculously moved four fingers forward from its original spot! This was accepted as a clear divine message. From that day on, this idol became worshipped as ‘Doul Govinda’, the Lord of the festival.

The original temple structure was built over 150 years ago. While it was renovated in 1966 to include more modern architectural elements, it has never lost its ancient charm and spiritual aura.
