- Shiva’s Arrival and Beheading: Upon Shiva’s return, Ganesha, unaware of Shiva’s relationship with Parvati, barred his entry. In a fit of rage, Shiva severed Ganesha’s head. - Restoration with an Elephant Head: A distraught Parvati grieved deeply, and to console her, Shiva pledged to restore Ganesha. He commanded his followers to fetch the head of the first creature they encountered facing north, which happened to be an elephant. Shiva then attached the elephant’s head to Ganesha’s body, resurrecting him. This act of restoration showcases Shiva’s love for Parvati and willingness to make amends. It also explains the origin of Ganesha’s unique appearance.
