Saraswati Puja, also known as Vasant Panchami, is a Hindu festival celebrated in honor of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, and learning. Observed primarily in eastern India, especially in West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Assam, the festival usually falls in January or February. Devotees, particularly students and teachers, worship the goddess to seek her blessings for wisdom and academic success.

On this day, educational institutions often organize special puja ceremonies. People dress in yellow attire, symbolizing knowledge and prosperity. Children are encouraged to begin their education, a ritual known as “Hathe Khori” in Bengal. Books, musical instruments, and tools of art are placed near the idol of the goddess for her blessings. The day is marked by devotion, music, and community feasts, celebrating the spirit of learning and culture.
